Dear Readers,

Learn and Earn! A wise old man that I know named Mr. Karlen told me that when he was young, his father paid him a penny for every word he read that he didn’t understand. If Mr. Karlen wrote down the word in a little notebook and then looked up the word in a dictionary, not only did he learn the word but he also earned a penny.

Now, this happened quite a long time ago and in those days you could buy a whole bag of candy for 5 cents. But everything is more expensive now, right? So maybe you could earn a nickel or even a dime for every word you learn as a result of reading this book. Maybe a parent, relative, or friend will sponsor you.

Feedback!   I am interested in what you learn from this book, and what you think of it after you read it. Are there things you would like to learn more about? Is there something that you would like to see in future books? Let me know!

It is my sincerest wish that you learn from this story, and that you have the best time ever reading it! So curl up in your acorn shell bed, get comfy, turn the page and meet the Stump Fairies of Miller Hill...

Happy reading,

Kelly Michal

In the works now...

The sequel to The Stump Fairies of Miller Hill might go something like this!

Winter comes and goes at Miller Hill, and the spring brings with it the opportunity for the stump fairies to attend the Gathering of Clans. Most of the adult stump fairies and some of the older fairykids will be allowed to take the long and exhausting journey, though the families laying eggs this season will stay behind.

The Gathering provides much celebration and education for all of the clans that attend. This meeting of clans from many different habitats will be a great time of communication:

They will learn of species in other ecosystems, they will learn of other cultures, they will meet many fairies from other clans, and there will be documentation of births and deaths. Fairies living in visitor habitats will see their native clan members, and many messages will be passed back and forth to take home.

Many dangers lie in the path to the Gathering, and not all of the clans are as friendly as the Miller Hill stump fairies. Will they make it to the Gathering? What obstacles will they have to overcome? Will they make it home? What adventures will occur back at Miller Hill and will things at the stump be the same when they return?

This page will be updated as more information becomes available. Be sure to revisit this page periodically!

Good News! Patricia Lou has agreed to illustrate the sequel to The Stump Fairies of Miller Hill, so you can look forward to more great drawings!
